R. Louis "Lou" Elliott is the President of Elliott Associates, and for more than 40 years has been managing, leasing, developing, buying and selling a variety of retail, office, and industrial properties throughout the Western States. He is a knowledgeable and well-respected advisor to many clients and colleagues regarding commercial real estate and retailing.

Lou grew up on a farm in Tennessee, attended Warren Wilson College in North Carolina, and received a Bachelor of Business Administration and Economics from Chapman College in California. After two years in the Peace Corps in Northeast Brazil, Lou gained further experience in the social services industry as a VISTA volunteer and later, as the Director of the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act of 1973 (CETA) program in Lane County, Oregon.

He began work in the real estate industry in 1976 with the development of the Fifth Street Public Market in Eugene, Ore. and became an Oregon Real Estate Broker in 1983. He was a founding partner of Commercial Realty Advisors, Northwest, LLC, in Portland in 1996 and remained as a partner there until September of 2011. He has served on numerous community, business and real estate advisory committeees over the last 40 years.

Lou and his wife & business partner of over 40 years, Marna, have a family at the office and another one at home. They have three children, Jordan, Lissa and Michel, countless nieces and nephews, a large extended family and many friends. They're famous for their dinner parties where the food, wine and conversation are always lively and entertaining. When Lou isn't working, he enjoys traveling with Marna and cycling. He's ridden in Cycle Oregon twenty times and finished all but one.
