Esther has been involved with the Real Estate and Shopping Center Industry her entire career. Before joining Elliott Associates in 1982, Esther was the on-site assistant manager of Washington Square in Portland, Oregon.

When she came to EA, she started with a few properties and added many more throughout the next 25 years, most recently the Bethany Village Centre, which includes a Shopping Center, five office buildings, an Athletic Club, Urban Condominiums and a Senior Living facility under construction.

In 1973, she became the fifth woman in the United States to earn the coveted title of CSM (Certified Shopping Center Manager) through the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). In 1981, she was appointed by ICSC to become the Oregon State Director, a position she held for three years. She moved on to become the Oregon State Governmental Affairs Director, and then became Oregon State Operations Director.

In 1984 after several years of study, she earned the Real Property Administrator (RPA) designation through the Building Owners and Manager's Associates (BOMA). In 1994, she was awarded the highly prestigious Trustee's Distinguished Service Award in a ceremony at the ICSC national convention. This award is given annually to only a few people, to recognize their years of service toward promoting the Shopping Center Industry.

Esther is married and the mother of three children.
