August, 2009 - Elliott Associates is looking for a full time Corporate Accountant. The position of a Corporate Accountant is directly linked to the principals of the company, and supervised daily by the corporate CFO. Its importance cannot be understated. The financial health of the company rests in the capable hands of the Corporate Accountant who pays attention to every minute detail of our corporate income and expenses. Legal requirements, reports, budgeting, and constant analysis is our life line to reality and we keep a tight 30 day cycle of review. None of the foregoing is worth anything unless the person in the position is communicating fully, regularly, accurately and succinctly with the CFO and the Principals. Confidentiality is an absolute requirement of the position and discussion of any knowledge of employee agreements or corporate cash flow or financial data can be cause for immediate dismissal. Ability and willingness to work directly with the principals on a daily basis is a requirement and will keep your life constantly interesting.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TASKS:
- Daily deposits and posting of corporate cash receipts
- Input corporate invoices for payment
- Cash flow projection with accompanying schedules. Draft is prepared and given to CFO for review.
- Bill properties for all monthly fees, including management fees and reimbursements.
- Track and update management fees based on management agreements.
- Input management agreements abstracts, looking for specfic notes regarding fees and limitations.
- Set up and maintain corporate bank accounts and client trust accounts for the properties we manage.
- Maintain fixed assets schedule by entering assets; completing depreciation transactions; and matching the fixed asset schedule with the general ledger.
- Analyze balance sheet accounts, including prepaid expense, accounts receivable, accounts payable, security deposits, accrued expense, etc.
- Prepare entries for accruals, depreciation, amortizaion, etc.
- Prepare monthly financial variance reports.
- Do the end of the month closing in MRI for CM, AP and GL.
- Special projects as assigned.
- Record and analyze the financial information of the company.
- Assist the CFO in preparing the annual budget.
- Prepare special financial reports and analysis as needed.
- Provide other support to the CFO as needed.
- Monitor and track the payments of property mortgages and owner draws, paying attention to due date, potential late fess, property codes, and general ledger codes.
- Process all property wires and book transfers.
- Review cash for properties, keeping the property managers and portfolio accountants informed about cash issues and concerns.
- Maintain pre-established minimum balances for each of the property bank accounts.
- Maintain filing.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING/SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree OR equivalent to an appropriate 4+ year college program in business finance and accounting, or a related course of study.
- 3-5 years experience in property management accounting for a commercial real estate firm, or equivalent experience.
- Need IBM PC experience with Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, and have familiarity with property management software systems.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have excellent problem solving skills, analytical skills, and be capable of handling multiple tasks.
- Must have an attention to detail.
- Needs to possess a positive outlook with the ability to stay organized and efficient under pressure.
